New Project - Online Mock Trial
NGO “Youth Union” offers a new project online mock trial, which will start on May 4. The project will be led by Amiran Giguashvili, a current lawyer and criminal lecturer at Ilia State University, who will be a judge during the project. This project is designed for law students, 2nd, 3rd, 4th year and undergraduate students. Therefore, the project will be carried out in a different way. As participants will already have some knowledge and experience, the project is focused on putting this into practice. At the beginning of the project, the participants will be divided into groups, where they will choose the leader of the group and will start working on the specific case that will be given to them at the beginning of the project. Therefore there is no need for mentors in the project. Participants will have a specific time to work on the case, after which the process will take place. During this time they have to decide for themselves how to act in accordance with the norms of the criminal procedure, how to prepare for the trial. This will allow them to identify themselves, and if, for example, they have been dependent on the mentor before and decided under his guidance, for example, what the introductory word was like, what questions to ask, and so on. Now they have a chance to prepare independently, like in a real process. As for the cases, it is confidential and will be given directly to the participants after the start of the project.
