Report on the Systemic Map of National Hate Response Mechanisms

An online event was held on 22 November 2021 under the auspices of the European Union and the Council of Europe, chaired by Stefan Sirbu, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Georgia Office.

The report of the "System Map of National Mechanisms for Responding to Hate Speech in Georgia" was heard at the event.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Tbilisi Humanitarian University, Doctor of Law, Professor Lia Chighlashvili.

The aim of the project is to increase access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crimes and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership countries through out-of-court protection mechanisms.

The report also includes contributions from various stakeholders, including civil society, the media, ministries, the judiciary, the ombudsman's office, and parliamentarians, and aims to identify and prioritize elements needed for future steps to combat hate speech in Georgia.

At the end of the meeting, an online discussion was held, the participants had the opportunity to hear competent answers from Georgian and foreign partners on current issues.
